Barry Worthington's Newest Films Earn Official Selections, "Lures from the Light" to Screen Alongside Films Involving Jamie Lee Curtis and Robert Englund at Things 2 Fear Film Festival 2024

Updated: Oct 15

Two of Barry Worthington’s newest short films, Lures from the Light and Ceiling Work have both made the Official Selection at the Things 2 Fear Film Festival of 2024 in Winchester, Virginia.

Lures from the Light is 1 of 11 2024 Festival Winners at the Things 2 Fear Film Festival and will be screening at the Alamo Draft House in Winchester, VA as part of the festival on October 15th. Barry Worthington's Lures from the Light will be screening at the festival alongside such films as Academy Award Winner Jamie Lee Curtis' (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Halloween) Executive Produced film Burn Out (also Produced by Film Independent), and Under the Bed, narrated by Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street).

"It was already beyond exciting to get into the festival, but then over breakfast reading who were involved in other selected films made my family and I widen our eyes and drop our jaws! I have to tell you, I thought seeing my name and my films alongside names like Jamie Lee Curtis and Robert Englund were the thing of fantasy, but I am extremely thankful to the Things 2 Fear Film Festival for this amazing opportunity to come true and I look forward to seeing the wonderful work by other filmmakers," Worthington says. "We all work hard, and hopefully just making your film is a reward in itself, but I can't wait for the chance to directly connect with an audience in a theater along with fellow filmmakers. I'm not always great watching scary movies, if you can believe that, so we'll see how much I'm hanging on to the edge of my seat during the festival!"

These accolades respectively mark the 157th and 158th Official Selections, Awards, and Honors Worthington’s films have earned across 13 short films since 2010.

This is the 3rd accolade for Ceiling Work, a micro-short film about an online home-improvement video-maker feeling something odd in the ceiling. It is Worthington’s newest completed film, and was entirely improvised, filmed on a phone, and released in a matter of days in Summer of 2024. This is the 8th accolade for Lures from the Light, a short film taking place after a takeover, where a man barricaded in a bathroom hears a cry for help outside the door.

Barry Worthington enters major principal photography on his first feature film in just a few days. The title is still being kept under wraps and will be announced soon.
